Call for Justice’s Fourth Annual Fundraiser
“An Evening With Ayvah”
Call for Justice invites you to join us for our fourth annual fundraiser on April 6, 2017. The event will be held at Illusion Theater in downtown Minneapolis, featuring a performance by musical guest Ayvah. Food is included in ticket price, and a cash bar will be available. All event proceeds will support services of Call for Justice, LLC, to close the justice gap by providing people with low incomes the civil legal resources they require. RSVP on Eventbrite.

Call for Justice’s Third Annual Fundraiser
“A Night with Black Market Brass”

Call for Justice invites our supporters to join us for our third annual fundraiser at the Illusion Theater on April 14, 2016, featuring a performance by Black Market Brass! The event will be held at Illusion Theater in downtown Minneapolis, and all event proceeds will support Call for Justice, LLC, which works to connect low-income people with civil legal resources, thus protecting them from homelessness, joblessness, and other risks to stability.

C4J’s Thirteenth Meeting of the Legal Liaison Program
C4J’s thirteenth Legal Liaison Program meeting will take place on March 3, 2016 at Greater Twin Cities United Way in downtown Minneapolis. The LLP meeting will feature two educational presentations (Childrens MN and House of Charity), along with an hour of “speed networking.” Those interested in attending this meeting are asked to please send an electronic RSVP to Brettina Davis at brettina.davis@callforjustice.org. C4J hosted a Legal Liaison Program meeting from 1:00PM-4:00PM on Thursday, February 11 at the Ordean Building (1831 Anne St NW, Bemidji, MN 56601). Thanks to Community Action Duluth and Duluth Volunteer Attorneys for collaborating with us to bring this program to Duluth.

Greater MN Legal Liaison Program Meeting: Red Wing
C4J hosted a Legal Liaison Program meeting from 9:00AM-Noon on Wednesday, August 26 at the Red Wing Public Library (225 East Ave, Red Wing, MN 55066). RSVP’s were required to attend this meeting. Thanks to United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha and Pierce Counties for collaborating with us to bring this program to Red Wing.

June 25, 2015:
C4J’s Eleventh Meeting of the Legal Liaison Program
C4J’s eleventh Legal Liaison Program meeting took place on June 25, 2015 at the Minneapolis offices of Fredrikson & Byron. The LLP meeting featured presentations by representatives of the Sexual Violence Center and Cancer Legal Line, along with an hour of “speed networking.”

June 18, 2015:
C4J Takes the LLP to Albert Lea (View the Informational Flyer)
On June 18, C4J took the Legal Liaison Program to the Freeborn County Historical Museum in Albert Lea (1031 Bridge Avenue, Albert Lea MN 56007). The program highlighted various “hubs” of information related to the civil legal system and state-wide programs aimed at connecting people in legal need with attorneys and legal resources. This event was the result of a collaboration between C4J, United Way of Freeborn County and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services. The Greater Minnesota Legal Liaison Program has been graciously underwritten by the Minnesota State Bar Foundation.

In collaboration with the Rochester Area Foundation and United Way of Olmsted County, C4J hosted an informational civil legal resources session on Wednesday February 25, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. C4J highlighted “hubs” of information related to the civil legal system and state-wide programs aimed at connecting people in legal need with attorneys and legal resources. The cost of this program was graciously underwritten by the Minnesota State Bar Association.

February 19, 2015:
Call for Justice’s 10th Meeting of the Legal Liaison Program
The 10th Legal Liaison Program meeting took place on Thursday, February 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Greater Twin Cities United Way building (404 South 8th Street, Minneapolis 55404). There were presentations from the Autism Society of Minnesota and the Council on Crime and Justice, followed by an hour of speed networking. December 4, 2014:
C4J’s Owatonna Legal Liaison Program (View Inaugural LLP Announcement)
C4J hosted our first-ever Legal Liaison Program in southern Minnesota on December 4, 2014. This pilot LLP meeting brought together legal and social service providers from Owatonna, Rochester, Mankato and the surrounding counties to heighten awareness of local resources and also to highlight some Twin Cities initiatives that offer legal help regardless of location. This event took place at the Steele County History Museum, and included presentations from the Volunteer Lawyers Network, the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota, and Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services (Pictured below). The group also took part in 30 minutes of networking.

November 12, 2014:
C4J’s second-annual “I Didn’t Know That!” civil legal resources seminar took place from 9AM-Noon at Minnesota Continuing Legal Education with great success! Nearly 90 individuals representing 51 different organizations attended for a morning of panel presentations on new and exciting civil legal resources in the Twin Cities. Presenters included Emily Baxter (WeAreAllCriminals.org) and Elise Chambers (Conflict Resolution Center) in addition to an hour of professional speed networking. It was open to legal providers, social services organizations and all other interested organizations looking for opportunities to learn about unique social and legal initiatives that exist in the Twin Cities, and those seeking potential future collaborations. June 26, 2014:
The eighth Legal Liaison Program meeting took place on June 26, 2014 at the Greater Twin Cities United Way building (404 South 8th Street) in Minneapolis. Presenters included Kristan Clow (The Bridge for Youth) and Lori Skibbie (Estate and Elder Law Services, Volunteers of America–MN) in addition to an hour of professional speed networking.

April 10, 2014:
C4J celebrated its first-annual fundraiser, “A Night with Well-Strung,” at the Illusion Theater in downtown Minneapolis–and it was a remarkable success! With a full theater and almost 200 tickets sold, Well-Strung (well-strung.com) and C4J worked together to put on a great show for a good cause–assuring that justice is accessible to everyone regardless of social standing.

February 11, 2014
United Way and C4J celebrated national “211 Day” on February 11, 2014 with a special one-time FREE screening of the documentary AMERICAN WINTER (view preview here), which follows the lives of eight families in Portland, Oregon as they struggle through homelessness, joblessness, and other crushing challenges. This film highlights the role of 211 as a valuable community resource, in addition to the need for more advocacy to end systemic poverty.

The event lasted from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Riverview Theater in Minneapolis. A panel discussion by 211 professionals was held at 4:00 p.m. and the film started at 4:30 p.m. More information on the film can be found here: AmericanWinterFilm.org

November 13, 2013
C4J presented a seminar/CLE entitled “I Didn’t Know That! Relatively Unknown Twin Cities Legal Resources” on Wednesday, Nov. 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. in Minneapolis. Click here to view the official flyer. This seminar/CLE was open to the general public, and recommended for legal providers or social service organizations having regular contact with low-income people with legal needs, in addition to any party interested in learning more about the underutilized legal resources that exist in the greater Twin Cities metro area. This seminar featured three panels of professionals from Court Self-Help centers, Law Libraries, the Volunteer Lawyers Network, United Way 211, Bar Association low fee services, and many more!

This CLE was sponsored by the HCBA Delivery of Legal Services Committee, the MSBA Legal Assistance to the Disadvantaged Committee, and Call for Justice, LLC.

October 22, 2013
As part of Pro Bono Week 2013 (October 20-26), the Minnesota State Bar Association sponsored a morning CLE program, “Integrating Pro Bono,” featuring a panel on Call for Justice’s collaboration with two Minneapolis-based law firms and the Volunteer Lawyer’s Network to bring regular legal access to the Jeremiah Program, a program dedicated to ending inter-generational poverty for women and their children in Minnesota. Taking place at the Fredrikson & Byron law firm in Minneapolis, our very own Ellie Krug moderated the panel discussion on the practices and benefits of integrating pro bono into the community and working with diverse clients. C4J hosted its 6th Legal Liaison Program meeting, which included speakers from the Children’s Law Center and the Aurora Center, in addition to “speed networking” among participating organizations and exciting updates on what’s “on the horizon” for Call for Justice.

The Call for Justice Legal Liaison Program was launched on May 30, 2012 with a terrific turnout! Since the Kickoff, more than 50 Twin Cities Metro Area legal service and social service organizations have joined the LLP.
